Nailya Alexander Gallery is pleased to announce representation of renowned Finnish photographer Pentti Sammallahti.
Sammallahti (b. 1950) has journeyed from his native Scandinavia across the Soviet Republics through Siberia to Japan, India, and Nepal; across Turkey; throughout Europe and Great Britain; and to South Africa. Our selection online features a variety of images from these travels.
As a teacher whose work has been exhibited worldwide, Sammallahti has had enormous influence on an entire generation of Finnish documentary photographers. In 2003, his work was included among Henri Cartier‐Bresson's 100 favorite photographs from his personal collection, which formed the inaugural exhibition of the Foundation Henri Cartier‐Bresson. His extensive solo exhibitions include Houston FotoFest in 1998 and the International Festival in Arles in 2005.
